So, this weekend, I tested for, and successfully earned, my black belt. It was a tough grading, but nobody from our particular school got sent home, and our sensei was proud of all of us. In class yesterday, that same sensei said that our group is very strong, and if we continue at the rate we are going, we could grade for nidan in two years (the minimum time allowed), instead of the three years that is the norm at our dojo. I also started learning Niseishi sho (Chito-ryu version). Very interesting kata. so I am very happy right now, still tired and sore, but it was all worth it! -Miriam
Thank you all. I'm enjoying being a black belt now. We started our bunkai on the weekend - and I found out that we'll be starting bo once I get back from vacation.
