Our school was invited to take part in a kung fu competition(forms and san shou)being held as part of a Shaolin cultural festival which took place over last week during which the
Abbot gave a lecture on chan buddhism at Oxford University and met leaders of the different religions, the theme of the festival a being unity of faith.
The competition was organised by the european shaolin association and we were heavily outnumbered by (amongst others)spanish ,french, german, italian and slovakian teams.
Before the start there was a parade of teams to be presented to the Abbot most of which were 20-30 strong so our team of four looked a little overwhelmed.
Although their opposition were mainly older our youngsters won seven medals,my
daughter being successful with spear and straight sword.

Couple of pics, clips to follow if I can get them
