So the think I don't understand, probably because I'm not a rapist, is the power thing. Is it a sexual act or a power trip or a bit of both? Can't seem to separate rape and sex.

 

Its rarely about the sex, its just sex is how the violence is expressed.

In many cases can be a "power" thing, but its more than that.

I think the closest analogy is the Vikings. Apparently they thought homosexuality was the most dispicable thing a man could do. This is why they would rape defeated enemies. Its not about the sex, its what the sex represents.

 

Not wishing to go too far OT but are you saying the Vikings raped defeated men? I've never heard that before.

Interesting. In all my time as a medieval historian I never heard that bit of info, which is odd as I specialised in the Normans. Can you remember a source?

Not a bad article, but a shame stroke across the buttocks more probably refers to a slicing cut across the gluteus maximus, not anal penetration. This would likely lead to the loss of mobility, hence it being regarded as an 'unmanning' blow. This was as I recall a punishment that was inflicted elsewhere in medieval europe.

That post stirred up a lot of dormant rage in me.

I wanted to go after all the snot nosed boys who ever grabbed my breasts, beat the crap out of them, cut their penises off, and take a dump on them.

And the kid who decided to prove that 'boys are stronger than girls' by throwing me around like a rag doll..while I didn't even fight back because I already had it in my head that I couldn't...yeah...violence and castration for him too.
