hi guys It's me again Mugen Zero, I finally realized why i came up with a name like this XD, it's cause of my never ending questions due to my empty head XD, thus infinitely empty ahaha, anyways i was hoping you guys can tell me the specific charcteristics of the martial arts that i am now going to list, those characteristics are either hand techniques, kicks, grappling, throws or even joint manipulation. It can also be multiple characteristics but what i really want, what these martial arts are famous for or powerful or mostly practiced from your perspectives of course. and please if there are such people, please refrain yourselves from trying to prove your martial art is the best in what area, all i require are serious answers thank you.
    1. Kyokushin Karate
    2. Taekyyon
    3. Jujitsu
    4. Judo
    5. Shaolin kungfu
If you can, can you please explain these characteristics? From your perspective of course. you are also allowed to add more characteristics if the ones i posted are not accurate. Thank you for your cooperation.

Just read the Wikipedia articles and watch some YouTube videos, there's no need for this forum to write you a bunch of essays.

The term shaolin kung fu encompass a wide range of arts. Did you have any in particular in mind?

Agreed. Many styles claim roots in Shaolin. Yet look vastly different. For example: both Wing Chun and Choy Li Fut claim rootsi in Shaolin, but are very different from each other.

    No.
Do your own research. Laziness has no place in any martial art. If you are really interested in martial arts, don't be lazy.

It would probably behoove you to go out and do your own little bit of research and looking around to be able to form your own ideas.

umm the shaolin part i was wondering actually, they seem to have something other martial arts don't have, I don't what it is but it's different, not saying other martial arts are incompetent but just wondering what was it that differentiates shaolin from the other martial arts. Can you say fluent movements?

and yeah i did read up on wikipedia, but seeing as all of you have practiced the martial arts itself, i was hoping to get your perspective on it, curioous to see what you see in the martial arts you practice, I'm not lazy to research on this, as we speak when i have free time i research on it.

Besides theres not that many martial arts schools here, just your basic martial arts like karate-do, taekwando, capoeira and a handful of kung fu schools, haven't found a choy lee fut school though but i'll keep checking, I'm planning on checking out the capoeira school soon.

Umm i guess one which focuses on kicks something like northern style kung fu, any recommendations? one with a lot of kickings? and quick footwork or is jeet kune do considered that.

Here's the problem with your question. Both of these styles:

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-QOA29lVME&feature=player_detailpage"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-QOA29lVME&feature=player_detailpage[/ame]

can be considered shaolin, as well as many others. As you can see the term encompases a wide range of very different styles, which is why I asked for more specific information. Do you have a video showing the "shaolin kung fu" that you have in mind?

Here is a description of CLF by my Grandmaster (Doc-Fai Wong).

Here is a decription of traits by Chan Family Lineage.

Here is a brief decsciption of traits by the Lee Koon Hung Lineage

And here is wikipedia-which can't always be trusted as an accurate source, but is a good spring board to start with. Usually isn't too bad with topics like this. The characteristics section has a pretty good desciption.

No offense, but if you didn't find a CLF school online with a google search, you must not have been trying very hard.

    :google: is your friend.

ahh my first reply to yours was abit out of context forgive me, but umm to be exact the shaolin kung fu i was talking about is the one used by the monks in my area, they used to teach at my school, but after a kid complained about the training, they left so i didn't manage to ask them which style they were. but i believe it was umm okey sorry but i may have to scratch shaolin kung fu off the list for the moment until i can be clear on what style i want.

Well, as someone had posted, do some research.

Which I like to rephrase: "Do some UNBIASED research"

I was one looking for, into, and in belief of Shaolin over 4 decades ago.

Then, I did some "UNBIASED research"

On this forum, simply search "Shaolin", and you will find some interesting threads

(Of course "Pro Shaoliners" will be biased, against, or "In Denial")

NOTE: This is not to lump-label any CMA

 Sorry, I don't understand your question. If you can be clearer what you are asking, I will try and answer.
