Three, but it wasn't really an attack. The first one to throw a punch I landed a lucky shot on and dropped him, the others just ran.

Sortta 3, a friend and I were heading for the women's restroom at a large outdoor concert when we were approached by 3 rowdy guys attempting to corner us. I had 1 guy directly in front of me with another a little bit behind him slightly to the left. The 3rd guy was trying to make his way around to my right and my friend is behind me babbling and whining. When the guy to the right came within reach I quickly flicked him in the eyes with with my fingers which took him out of the picture long enough for me to deal with the other two. The distraction this caused gave me time to move away some to my left keeping them all in front. My friend was shadowing me from behind actually hindering my mobility. If she would have gotten any closer she would have been wearing my clothes. The closest guy lunged forward to grab me and as he did I reached out and snatched his forearm, yankig him forward and hit him with an uppercut to the jaw. He stumbled and fell and the guy behind him tripped over him and went down also. That gave us the opportunity to escape because the only guy standing was still rubbing his eye, backing up and calling me some not so nice names.

Once it escalated from verbal to physical everything happened very quickly and flowed smoothly except for the hinderance of
my shadow friend. It was an all day and late into the nite music festival and after our close encounter the ladies in our group took male escorts with us on our trips to the restroom. We were going to point those guys out to security but never saw them anymore.

That last story was really good and detailed. I appreciate all of the input everyone has left. It shows me the type of counter attacks that we the victim have taken on these multiple attackers.
I was also curious to find out how many opponents I should be able to sustain at a given skill level.

Three -- but they were very drunk, so weren't too much of a threat (I only got one small bruise, but left the three of them on the floor).

Fought two who weren't drunk but were just out for trouble - that was 11 years ago and I was pretty inexperienced (fighting wise) at the time: froze from the affects of Adrenalin and got my ass kicked!

As for how many opponents you could take on ... fighting multiples is ALWAYS risky, however good you are. Practice hard, avoid physical violence whenever you can. And when you have to fight, just hope that what you have - and luck - is enough to bring you through it. Learn to use your confidence, voice and eyes as psychological weapons. And forget any rules other than survival.

Not strictly a fight but is does show something important about the pyschology of combat.

A few years ago I was walking along a street when I suddenly got a bad feeling. I noted three guys walking towards me talking with each other - this was not unusual as it was a thin street and in the middle of day. As I got close there was a sudden movement and I found myself covering againt a hook with my fingers striking the guys throat knocking him backwards. I kept on walking for a couple more paces (I hadn't stopped) and turned round. At this point they were staring at me dumbstruck with their buddy clutching his throat. I just stared back calmly as if this was routine for me - secretly I was just wondering what the hell I'd just done.

Really nervously they all edged away backwards and departed.

Andy Murray Sadly passed away. Rest In Peace.

Ten guys jumped one of my mates once. I dived in, but got the goodwill kicked out of me. It was before I started training, but I'm not sure how much difference that would have made, if any.

I got into a fight with an entire pub once and have never been so glad to see a Police car in my life!

By myself four, result unconciousness, burst nose, a lot of bruising and one less tooth.
