I was looking at old martial arts movies today and I got to one I saw a while ago that stared Jackie Chan and Jet Li, "Forbidden kingdom" And from there I started seeing what some of that actors were doing these days. What I came across makes me think I have no right to call myself old anymore since I am so much younger than this guy. Remember the guy that played the "JAde Emeror" Wang Deshun. He was in his 70s when that movie came out, and now he is in his 80s and he stared another career...... run way model. Reading about his workout and he is talking about reps in the 200 and 300s.... I have no right to call myself old any longer and it appears I can no longer use it as an excuse.
March 05, 2018 My knee and ankle were still bothering me, but I cold not just sit there. SO I got out the exercise bands and did Curls - 3 reps of 10 Reverse curls - 3 reps of 10 Military Press - 3 reps of 10 shoulder flies - 3 reps of 10 Boat pose held for 20 (relaxed as possible) breaths 50 crunches Tried Bridge pose and it went fine, held for 10 relaxed breaths

March 08, 2018 - so far Cleared 4.5 inches from my driveway in round 2 of the snow removal festival. Also revisited some old yoga DVDs. First I want to say, I had training in Kripalu Yoga and Power yoga before I ever purchased the DVDs. They were purchased to help keep me going, many moons ago, when I worked 2nd and 3rd shift and could not got to any class. I have since trained in Hatha Yoga.... also I should make it perfectly clear that I am not, nor have I ever claimed to be, a yoga teacher. I also do not advocate learning Yoga via DVD, that is how folks get hurt, they see some person doing some super bendy yoga move that requires a lot of balance and strength and they go for it...and get seriously injured. Also for the record I don't do super bendy yoga move that requires a lot of balance and strength... I know better This morning A quick, I made it up on the fly Yoga routine (did bot left and right side) Mountain Forward Bend Lunge Warrior 1 Warrior 2 Triangle pose Half-moon pose Mountain Forward Bend Plank Cobra Boat pose Shavasana Then I put in an old Rodney Yee DVD I found it was AM Yoga, relaxation and mediation and it is about 20 minutes. There are a few poses in here that I have been avoiding due to arthritis, like Hero's pose and twisted hero's pose. But they went well. It was the cross legged stuff, that I use to love, that gave me the most issues with my now rather inflexible hips. I have to tell you, after I was done....I have not felt that good, that relaxed of had that positive an attitude in a long time...felt great Found Yee's old Abs yoga DVD as well, might give that a go tonight and then do some Taiji if I survive. If my memory serves it is a pretty rough routine, especially for an old guy

March 13, 2018 Yoga Total Gym Triceps kick backs 10 reps, 3 sets at level 3 Seated Rows, 3 sets at level 3 Also shoveled my driveway twice. You can easily park 10 cars in my driveway.... and the snow blower is broken...so I am counting this as exercise. Also not feeling so good the last few days so I have not been doing much training. Got tested today for the flu and I can happily say I do not have it, but I do have another sinus infection.

March 18, 2018 So far, did something I have never done before and I was never shown I have not done any Xingyiquan in a few months but today I was in my basement standing in Santi Shi when I had a thought, “go through all 5 elements slowly”. I have gone though the elements slowly before, much like a taijiquan form, but this was different with an added bit of breath focused meditation. This I had not thought of, or done, before. Piquan; left, hold for 10 relaxed breathes Piquan; right, hold for 10 relaxed breathes Piquan; left, hold for 10 relaxed breathes Piquan; right, hold for 10 relaxed breathes Zuanquan; do the same as Piquan Bengquan; 4 rounds left leg forward, same as Piquan Bengquan; 4 rounds right leg forward, same as Piquan Paoquan; same as Piquan Hengquan; same as Piquan Hengquan; reverse leg, same as Piquan All postures stop and stand for 10 relaxed breathes, and all transitions from one posture to another were done at full speed. Not having done Xingyiquan in a few months combined with that fact that I am not in the greatest of shape, but at the end of this I was sweating a little bit, and I felt it in my thighs most. I noticed that without the continuous movement, from one posture to another, that the stop showed me rooting and alignment issues that I simply did not notice before due to the momentum of the 5 elements forms. As did the full speed transitions, knocked myself off balance more that once in Bengquan, Paoquan, and Hengquan Hope to do yoga a little later this evening
