But she keeps saying go and my wife and youngest seem to still want to go. The oldest is in College 4 hours away so he is of little help should my mother need assistance.... we leave Saturday for the other side of the country
Back from Vacation. And just so you know, if you ever want to see a bunch of folks trying to get a Darwin Award...go to the West Rim of the Grand Canyon..... Also came back a full blown vegetarian. Started last a week ago Sunday as mostly vegetarian and the last 5 days I have been full on vegetarian. Read Rip Esselstyn's book; "My Beef with Meat" while on vacation and it inspired me to return to my vegetarian ways. So far lost 3 pounds without trying
I tried veganism but I broke. Now vegetarian 90% of the time apart from the occasional cheeky pizza at weekends. I feel good. The only downside is that I spend half my life steaming broccoli.
I tried Veganism a few years ago and it was WAAAY to hard, vegetarian is much easier. But I will break in a good Chinese Restaurant...or should I ever find myself in the Bergen Norway fish market again. And boil Broccoli, it is much easier
Glad your mom is recovering. Hope you had a good vacation. Yeah, I don't remember what rim, but I remember seeing a lot of dangerous stupidity when I visited the Grand Canyon. Some woman in dress shoes WAY too close to the edge with a heavy wind. Stuff like that. And someone did die that day that I visited. I know all too well. I had a dear friend who died being stupid camping at Yosemite. Swam where signs were posted not to. Slipped, hit is head and went over Nevada falls. His reasoning was that the signs were for beginners, not experienced campers like he was. Sigh.
Guy had his family up against the wall and was holding the camera up to his face and backing up towards the edge..... I walked behind him, put my hand on his back and told him I think he'd gone far enough.... I walked in a 3 foot space between him and the edge and he was showing no signs of stopping until my hand touched his back. Sorry about your friend.
You may have very well saved that guys life! Death in nature areas, due to stupid positioning for pictures, is a growing phenomena. No picture is worth that risk! Thanks, for the condolences. Rex died several decades ago. His death is a Darwin award cautionary tale about how one must always respect the power of nature.
Nature can be dangerous, I grew up in the woods and worked an oak and cherry tree farm for a bit (with resident bear and cougar). But many people do not seem to get it... and when folks have to be told "Don't take selfies with bears" it amazes me on how much many simply do not understand Aspen police: Don’t take selfies with bears One national park was also giving similar advice

March 04, 2018 Still a Vegetarian, although my wife stuffed some homemade chicken dumplings in my mouth on Friday. I will on occasion eat meat if it is good Chinese food. So I guess I am vegetarian, just not militant about it Considering removing weight training (the little bit of it I do) and doing only Yoga, Taijiquan and those things associated with internal martial arts. I have been really getting into Yoga lately. Other than Taijiquan, it is all I have done, everyday, sometimes twice a day, since my last post here.
Well, it appears the wet snow/ice shoveling caused me issues, My left knee and right ankle have been bothering me and I could not figure out why...until I sat and thought about it this morning...as I gave in and but a heavy duty knee sleeve on and an ankle brace
