A few vids from the demo of the Okinawan Karate Team... Guess which isn't part of this kata? (198 KB) Flying Kick Board Break (276 KB) Kata Application (370 KB) Enjoy
Hi, The Third Video -- http://www.eternalskies.com/videos/wce_okinawa03.wmv -- Shows a bunkai demo of Naihanchi Shodan. A little sloppy, though. The Nunchaku demo seems more flash than substance, though. Regards, Ketong71
Actually, I had to hack the link myself. The third link posted was a repeat of the first one (the flashy Nunchaku demo). So, I changed the '01' in the filename to '03' and got the Naihanchi Bunkai Demo. Regards, Ketong71
It was a Martial Arts Expo. A Dojang was Hosting, but arts from other countries (like the one seen here) were invited Dammit, missed another one! Gomennasai!!! *bows* I thought it was cool when he smacked himself in the face
Kata part Video number 3 looks like tekki kata bunkai. But it's nice to see such videos post more... Regards Kerling ps. Giggling is good for your soul.
That nunchaku sequence is definately just flash. I did not spot a single attacking move - just short bounces. GGGGGGRRR
Well, I dunno much about Okinawan Karate, but here's the full Nunchaku demo... http://www.eternalskies.com/videos/nunchaku.wmv (Link is accurate) Thoughts?
It's not very good. Definitely not Okinawan Kobudo. Look, you're in Long Beach. If you're interested in authentic Okinawan Kobudo or Okinawan karate, go visit Fumio Demura in Orange County (Santa Ana) for kobudo. www.genbu-kai.com Or, Visit Sensei Angel Lemus in Los Angeles for both Okinawan Kobudo and Okinawan Karate (Westwood Recreation Center 1350 Sepulveda Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90025 310-473-3610) There is a plethora of instructors in authentic Okinawan Karate/ Kobudo. Were I you, I'd look for Anthony Marquez, Shroinkan Shorin Ryu, Eihachi Ohta and Tadashi Yamas h i t a, in addition to the two mentioned above. Rob
