Hey, i'm new to the message board, and to weapons...
Second to the Eskrima, i have recently taken interest in the tonfa. I Got a PR24 from an uncle and decided i would learn how to use it. I have sparred with my friend (eskrima vs tonfa) but he is now bruised and reluctant. If anyone has any tips on mobility or on blocking and striking with this weapon. It would be greatly appreciated.

Eskrima is a FMA isn't it, but I've heard Kali stick styles mentioned as eskrima.

I was refering "tongue in cheek" to the fact that he had called the weapon an "Eskrima" when it is actually called a STICK.

I know that Eskrima is FMA - I have a 4th Grade Black belt in it :D

Try getting an instructor to teach you how to use it...

White Flame, do you or your poor friend have any formal training with any of these weapons? If not, then I suggest you get some before you or your friend injure yourself further.

Yoda is right. The highly technical term for that FMA weapon is (drum roll): stick. You two are lucky you didn't get crazy and practice with machetes, which is what the stick stands in for in FMA practice.

anyway, I hope you two are insured...:)
