Also, most styles of Kung Fu transfer over quite nicely just look at Don the Dragon Wilson. He started out doing the dragon style (pai lum) of kung-fu, and then wanting to prove that kung fu practitioners could fight transferred over to straight kickboxing, and won numerous titles. Also, just look at any San Shou fighter to find out if kung fu practitioners can kickbox effectively. Either way, it sounds like you've got a solid foundation and you should be able to apply what you've learned from both styles, don't listen to all these haters.
