    Before Thatcher:
    • We had trade unions running the country and refusing to work more than 3 days a week.
    • We had to ask the IMF to bail us out
    • Income tax was 44% minimum and an average of 83%. Dennis Healy wanted to tax us "until the pips squeaked"
    • We had runaway inflation- we would've ended up like Zimbabwe or Germany
    • We had bins overflowing
Thatcher slashed income tax and contrary to modern belief, she actually increased the public spending. She curbed the money supply.

She also sunk the Argentine ship after the Argies invaded our Falklands Islands.

We need another Margaret Thatcher- especially to spearhead the Brexit because i'm a proud Brexiteer as these Europeans are taking our jobs.

    Absolutely.

But why settle for an inferior version?

I say we should dig up the Iron Lady and put as much genetic material on ice as possible, before it is too late. We could crowdsource a number of clones and have them raised by a special training team from the Centre for Policy Studies and the Selsdon Group.

That's so mean. How dare you burst people's cognitive dissonance so blatantly!

Right wing Brexiteers love Thatcher, so she has to be rewritten as a Eurosceptic. Right wingers on both sides of the pond love Reagan and Thatcher, so the fact that their economic policies led us down the path to wage stagnation and constant recession cycles for everyone outside of the top echelons of the finance industries has to be swept under the rug and forgotten.

You've previously been talking on MAP about moving countries away from the UK because other countries are better.... And you've also said your family isn't from the UK originally.

So why are you against migration, when your family are migrants, and you want to be a migrant yourself?

Yeah, she was really great. So great that young people today can't even get on the housing ladder.North Sea oil was squandered on dole money,or more likely on sick pay to keep those made redundant by her policies more docile.Council housing was sold off for peanuts as a bribe to get the working classes to vote for her.Elderly people had to start paying through the nose for social care, mainly funded by selling the homes they had worked so hard to purchase.Inflation was at 11% when she left office, and as for the Belgrano, well it was almost akin to a war crime as the ship was full of young conscripts and presented no real threat to the task force.I can't recall ever paying the lowest 44% tax rate in the seventies and FYI the highest rate was around 98% for those who had excessive earnings such as pop stars and racing drivers. If you read your history you might find that Clement Attlee was a far greater PM than Thatcher.

Generally considered to be a war crime, and I don't think she personally did it. Also Argentina were hardly a major military power. They also managed to invade the islands in the first place because Downing Street had ignored weeks of warnings that they were going to. So what she in fact did was allow our sovereign territory to be invaded triggering a war that cost 255 British servicemen their lives (and the suicide rate among Falklands veterans is scandalous too) because of her ineptitude and lack of leadership

And got her re-elected...now the cynic in me may see a correlation......

Yes and no , there was definitely a wave of patriotism after the conflict that helped her , but , the opposition at the time was pretty inept , I actually think Thatcher was was quite lucky in that respect.

Thatcher confidential: The untold story of the Falklands War

She caused the situation in the first place.

"In January 1982, Mrs Thatcher wrote to the Tory MP Richard Needham, defending the decision to scrap the only British warship in the vicinity of the Falklands, HMS Endurance. The government needed to save money"
