Come and meet the people you talk to online and see them in a different light. We look forward to seeing you there.
I'm really pleased to say that our first confirmed Instructor is Steve Brinkman. Many of you will remember Steve from previous meets, and his sessions have always proved as popular as they have informative. I've been teaching in schools, colleges, businesses and martial arts classes for around 25 years, and I am always really impressed by Steve's style of coaching. If you've never attended one of his sessions, do yourself a favour and be there on 13th June.
England..AGAIN!!!! when are you going to do this in USA in NYS Maybe I will get there someday, enjoy and I hope it all goes well and is a blast for all that attend
We have our second confirmed Instructor for the Meet, long time friend of MAP, now very busy growing HAVOC in the UK, the infectiously enthusiastic Simon Simon will be running a session on Serrada Eskrima, which differs in using shorter sticks than some forms of the art. More details to come in the next few weeks!
Page 1 has been updated and now shows a little more information regarding how to get there, time slots etc. Over the next month or so will show a full list of those taking a session.
It has become customary to hold a raffle at the end of the event and this year will be no different. We have half a dozen of the plastic HEMA swords used when Aegis took a very popular session a few years back. I'll have a dig through my gear to see what else I have. If anyone can donate something related to martial arts for the raffle it'll be really appreciated. All money raised from the raffle goes to the chosen charity. If anyone wants all swords then make us an offer. I've just checked and we have 7 of them.
I will try and donate some Hello Kitty stuff like t-shirts/patches and what not. The stuff I normally wear.
The next Instructor for the list is well known on MAP, Mr High Kick himself, Van Zandt Dan has been studying the science of flexibility for nearly 30 years and teaching it professionally for over 20. His clients have included the US Olympic Tae Kwon Do Team and Paris Opera Ballet, the oldest ballet company in the world. As a martial artist, he has been training for more than 30 years and holds black belts in multiple systems including Tae Kwon Do (both ITF and WT styles), Kyokushin and Kickboxing. As a competitor he has won international championship titles in full-contact Karate and Tae Kwon Do. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in Kinesiology (the science of human movement) and he is also a qualified sports therapist and strength coach. He currently serves as the director of the Flexibility Research Institute, an organisation that advises higher education centres on flexibility training and musculoskeletal medicine research. This will, not surprisingly, be a session on flexibility and how to improve it.
