Rhymes with cone, so "ice cream krowne" Ice cream crom wouldn't work but would be more conan like! Ps I don't speak Brazilian so I've literally assumed this from his nickname!
On my Facebook feed today were 9 memories. I opened them only to be reminded of the charities MAP has supported over the years, each with a personal story for one of our members. It was really quite moving. You will have certainly raised over a 5 figure sum over the years and have made a difference to so many. You may recall Stephanie Inglis, the Judo player stuck in Vietnam after a motor cycle accident that almost claimed her life. Your contributions helped bring her home and I still follow her page and can tell you she is recovering well, has moved back into her own flat and is looking to become more independent. This year's charity was chosen by Hannibal and it's the Get involved – The Ehlers-Danlos Support UK which is something his young nephew suffers from. Thank everyone who has made a donation, especially perhaps to those that donate, but don't attend. It really does make a difference. Here is a quote from one of my students. She lost her brother to blood cancer and we did a MAP Meet for Bloodwise. "Just checked the page we set up in Dan's memory, and with your fundraising, the overall total between us all is nearly £7k. That's the kind of money that makes a real difference."
John Titchen (who will be at the meet) has very kindly offered to donate some kit to help raise funds for our charity. We could hold a mini-auction either at lunchtime or after the event in the bar. I'll discuss that with Mitch. Kit includes: (1 second hand 150cm SAMA child's white gi in bag (worth about £20). Brand new Gi still in bags: Blitz Ju Jitsu White Gi 140cm x 1 worth about £20 each 150cm x 2 worth about £20 each 170 cm x 2 worth about £45 each
I was on the fence about coming along. My back is bad. As it happens I now have an (unrelated) hospital procedure the day before so won't be coming. Have a good day peeps!
