Yo.. I've been doing boxing for over 2 years now... i've done a few months of muay thai when I was about 15.. But it were a bunch of morons, and just a bunch of show-offs, and I really didn't learn very much there.. Now.. I really like boxing, and I'm not planning on stopping, just looking for what's out there.. I need a nice MA that would mix real good with my boxing.. In my town i can do: -jiujutsu -judo -taekwondo -thai boxing/kickboxing (they do a sort of blend) -different sorts of karate What would you guys recommend?
I guess a bit of Judo to give you some grappling skills wouldn't go amiss. Other than that, I can only say... do karate 'cos it's what I do
out of what you listed id go for judo. i found judo complimented my muay thai VERY nicely and i imagine it would do the same with boxing
yeah.. the thing is... isn't judo really competition-based.. more a sport than an MA... because that's a thing that bothers me at boxing... to much sport-focussed...
From the options you've listed I'd go for the Jiu-Jitsu. Complements boxing nicely and also deals with weapons.
If you can try them all a couple of times and figure out which one YOU like, everybody is different and so we'll prefer different systems.
Judo + boxing is a sure winner, no doubt. You know how in boxing....when you clinch and you're thinking "damn, not much I can do here really, Gotta wait till the ref (or coach) breaks us apart" Well, in judo, when you clinch...you get to throw them on their heads!
