I'm looking for something along the lines of Kyokushin or Goju ryu in the Nassau, Long Island area, as close to East Meadow as possible. I'm looking to train in Karate before my Judo/ BJJ classes start at 8. I haven't found anything around that 1. Doesn't cost an arm and a leg. 2. Teaches adult Karate 3. Has adult classes that end before 8. I want a very rough school. Something with iron body type training and plenty of sparring. I've done kickboxing and loved it, but I'd like to do something more traditional with a spiritual aspect to it. I have no problem with doing kata, but I don't want to spend the majority of my time working on forms. I love meditation and all of the spiritual aspects of martial arts, but I'd prefer to stay away from forms if possible. Like I said though, I wouldn't mind forms in small doses as that's obviously a large part of Karate. I'm very interested in a full- contact or knockdown style. Thanks in advance for any help.
