I walked to the gym today. Then I walked home. I count that as exercise. Getting back in to it slowly, see
Injured? Having motivation issues at the mo, and just got back after being in York for the holidays so just can't be bothered. Plus I was going to do some cardio but my knee feels a bit stiff. Excuses piling up! However, I have finally bought a foam roller.
And it is the white one, you know, the softest one. Not the black hardcore roller Frodocious has. Edit: He means my foam roller.
Nah. Just can't find the time/motivation to exercise (time mainly). I seem to have about half an hour at the end of the day to fit anything in and that's not enough. Most nights I fall asleep on the floor after putting the nipper to bed. Perhaps I inadvertently infected you with my malaise when you were nearby? You should have dropped me a line. We could have not exercised together.
You big girly wimp! Actually mine is blue, but I also have some pvc pipe and a hockey ball and they're great 'fun' to use! :wow:
Hey - if it isn't giving any problems without the roller, and it hurts when I apply pressure, logic dictates not to use it!
:bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: NO PAIN NO GAIN! Pain is just weakness leaving the body! That being said, I do have the urge to scream when rolling my IT band!
Pain for benefit - I can understand. Pain for no reason - I have no injuries, no performance issues, no recovery issues, no flexibility issues - that's something else!
See, I would argue that pain when foam rollering often points to underlying tissue quality issues. It might not be causing obvious problems now, but you could be storing up scar tissue/muscle knot problems for the future. Most people I know who foam roll say that it hurts initially (particularly in areas like the IT band) but as you sort out your soft tissue problems the pain goes away and that's when you should think about moving to a harder roller. I have noticed a lessening of pain in a number of areas since I started regularly rolling - including the IT band. Obviously there are different types of pain and pain due to putting pressure on an injury is bad and shouldn't be continuing, but pain due to loosening up and improving tissue quality is good pain. If you don't want to foam roll then try getting a deep tissue massage once a month or so - I used to do this, but cash flow is an issue at the moment. That all being said, if you feel it's not for you then each to his (her) own!

My son thought he didn't have knotted muscles; that was until he went on the foam roller and found a load.
