The Norwegian haerkamp-community have once more held it's annual autumn gathering. We were around 70 fighters + "civilists" from medieval re-enactment groups from southern Norway + warriors from Sweden and Denemark (we had one from USA as well, but he lives in Norway

It rained most of the time and we had temperatures around 13*c, so we had plenty of oppertunity to test our gear, clothes and tents

My 14thC jousting armour with leg harnesses!

Still waiting for the helm to be completed and have now ordered some full greaves to be made to help balance out the weight.

I also have a pair of 14th C gauntlets [with some nice brass fancywork to match up with my fauld] and a manifer being made for me in Aust as a swap deal for my bullfighting saddle.

 

That looks like fun!

Nice to see you had some horses there but what happened to their costumes? We normally kit the horses up as well as the riders, so that we are all in keeping with what we are doing as much as practical.

Good to see you having a go at a quintain with a battleaxe but its so much more fun with a lance at warp speed!

 

Yes, this gathering is focused on the combat, and to bring costume to the event is voulentary. The ground was full of mud, so I think they didn't bother with the armor on that occation. Here are some pics of the same "knights" and "squires" at an event in sweeden WITH AN AUDIENCE:

We are doing a jousting display this weekend at a large show so should be fun & lots of people....

 

There are two jousting-groups in Norway (I've heard rumors of a third, but it haven't been confirmed yet) The group I'm in is "Frilansene", and here's a link to a video-website from the other group; "Ordo Ignis". They're nice guys and fun to drink beer with
