You're right, that wouldn't go down well with Sifu, however the rest of the boys would have a good laugh about it lol.
two ways.............. That is excellent! But it must hurt if you got hit on that great big knot. In Lau, when we used to fight in competitions most people tied it in a normal knot and left both ends long. this stopped it getting caught by a foot or hand. In traditional or regular training we tie it is a half bow so that there is one small loop on the top and two ends hanging down. this makes a very neat knot and also if it is pulled, the knot comes undone thereby preventing it being pulled. Also it shows off the BKFA badge on the long end. This is worn on the left side. Obviously if you have a long black sash, or one of the newer brown sashes (last 10 years or so) you have to wrap it round twice, so middle of sash in front, then double round and half bow knot. The black sash is normally worn on the right side. Simple!!!
im sure my instructor wears his black sash on the left (BKFA). will have to tell him he is doing it all wrong! although i do like my teeth in my head so i might leave it!
HaHa^^^ I know what you mean mr.O I tie mine around my waist but find it around my chest after every jumping kick, Thankgod i've got armpits or i swear i'd hang myself every lesson.
Your so skinny I'm surprised you don't have to wrap it round about 5 times lol I usually wear it on the right and tie it as described by herbert
Don't know about the BKFA but found these vids on youtube [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfV0Lpn1ojU"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfV0Lpn1ojU[/ame] [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nLwUnO5-WU"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nLwUnO5-WU[/ame]
Nice one! The first video is not too bad, but I'd have beaten him senseless and gone to the pub by the time he'd tied that knot. Also he ended up with one long end and one short end, which I think looks untidy. The second one is just silly. :bang: If/when I can find a minute, I'll get the missus to film me tying the knot. At the end of the day it's there to support your stomach, which is what you should be thinking when tying it.
