I've seen this French-style cane fighting on NatGeo... anybody here practice it? anyone know some good websites? thanks...
I had a very brief look at this when visiting MAP member Pugil's club in Cambridge. It looked pretty good to me. I'm sure it was tied in with Savate - which is one of the arts Pugil teaches there. Pugil> Are you out there mate?
La Canne de Combat Hi X I've only seen the pics but I'd love to have a go at training in the art of La canne..... Apart from the training weapon It doesn't look too different from Single-stick! Here's a couple of sites that may be of interest; http://members.bellatlantic.net/~eynard/Savatehistoricalpage.htm http://www.savate-uk.com/ http://www.cambridgemartialarts.freeserve.co.uk/fred.htm Louie
Yes, we teach La Canne in Cambridge (UK). A team from Great Britain will also compete at the forthcoming World Championships on Reunion Island in October of this year. If you can't come to us, we may be able to come to you if anyone wants to set up a seminar, etc. In the mean time, do a Google search for other sites. You can start with these: http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Pagoda/8187/Canne.htm http://www.rongeurs.net/canne/index.php3 Pugil
Oh yes! I should also have said that all flights and accommodation was paid for, along with breakfast and evening meals. The island itself is tropical, with its own coral reef, and tropical fish in abundance. Three youngsters (and an adult superviser - not me sadly!) from the Great Britain Savate Federation (GBSF) have also been invited over to Reunion next month to take part in a multi-nation cultural exchange and friendly Savate competition. Again, all flights (from and back to France) will be paid for, along with food and accommodation. Bet you wish you were in the GBSF! Pugil
