Ok ,seeing that we all talking about all aspects of kung fu which invariably goes off topic, and seeing that the Ninjas have one, here is the thread to do it! Same rules as always apply,no bad language/style vs style bashing or personal insults. Someone start us off then,I am lost for words tonight (make the most of it!) .......
Well I'm the only Tiger/Crane guy!! (though there are a couple of fukien crane boys and they're very similar..)
Personally I'm happy the style I practice isn't too common. Less problems and in-fighting that way. Look at the rotten mess with _ing _un and their lineage wars. Small and tight knitt is the way to go.
I really don't think the size of the club makes a difference in fighting will always happen. yes Lau Gar is coming out of UK's ears So, for those that use animal references - what is you fave - most used? and why? I'll start off with - mine is definately the monkey, not so much the moves, but the attitude. Although I'm bigger than a lot of people so I guess tiger or crane would help, but I think that it's best not to rely on my height and aggression all the time.
We don't do any monkey stuff.I think I would go with crane maybe as I like the grace of it, but I do like a good tiger claw. I now keep my nails short though after accidentally nearly gouging someones face when I had longer ones.
crane suits my lanky limbs, I try not to get carried away as most sparring partners can't learn so well if I'm attacking like a crane, although I think more experienced people enjoy the challenge.
I like Tiger and Dragon I guess... I'm built like a tiger, and relatively good at most tiger stuff we do.
Mongoose anyone??? Seriously though, anyone heard of any "odd" animal forms/styles out there? And NO Grand Delestial-Do does NOT count Steelyphil!
not one thats taught, but snake in the Eagles shadow (or cat and snake) has got to be the most amusing combination used in that Jackie Chan film the snake sounds followed by the cat scream is hilarious
