have been to an andy norman seminar, although andy is a top martial arts,it seemed to me that they used loads of panantuken along with jkd concepts, hitting the limbs as well as body and face, grappling is bjj, even said it in website, not done stick with him, again it seems to me that this is justo's and andys own way of expressing their martial view using jkd concepts

As much as I respect Bob and owe a lot of my early knowldge to him, Both Bob and Rick along with Justo and Andy are just as guilty of the comersialization of JKD as 99.9% of the others, they use the JKD and Bruce Lee name to bring in the students and they can and do charge a lot for the privaledge. And maybe their right to do so as at the end of the day they have to pay the bills and eat and what a great way to earn your living, and if we look closer it is after all their living. And by earning your living from something you have to be a comercial concern 1st and a martial arts instructor 2nd.

I will ask you a question now, Which of the big name JKD instructors do not earn their living and owe their lifestyle to JKD???

I heard a story lately about a "big shot" martial arts Instructor
    It goes something like this.............
At a martial arts exhibition there was an old drunk guy causing trouble and this martial artist was trying to escort him from the exhibition unsuccessfully even though the old guy was about 65 and steaming drunk.
Eventually a girl (a keysi extreme evolution fighter) had to go over and tell this martial artist to "f*ck off" and got rid of the guy for her self.
So not only did this person nearly get beaten up by a girl he couldn't even control an old man. :)

Was this "down the pub"??? :)

    >It goes something like this.............<

    It usually does...:)

Wow, good job one of you people was around to save the day.

    >So not only did this person nearly get beaten up by a girl<

A GIRL!!! My God, how embarrassing. A GIRL!!! Well, he'd have to commit suicide just to avoid the public shame...:)

You haven't met many women have you? Try to find one, and annoy her (I mean really upset her. I tell you what, contact Mrs O'Malley and threaten her children), see what happens then. Right Pat?

    > he couldn't even control an old man. <

And an old man!!! It just gets worse. I mean, how many of us have trained with old men? They just cannot do ANYTHING to defend themselves or cause harm to anyone else...(Dan Inosanto, Cacoy Canete, Leo Gaje, _add_name_of_old_Filipino/Japanese/Chinese/Brazilian_masters_here).Right?

yeah.. but none of these old men were deadly experts of their "own" extremely evolved system, refined and polished to such an extent that simply practicing will turn them into highly evolved X-men.

I am still confused as to how KFM is to use a direct word, better than JKD or should i say mmore highly eveolved, and i must state that PR in no way makes it a better system, and i am a big batman fan, the Bourne identity did nothing for JKD that was not already present.

    So Please explain

i would have to say that 90% of a martial artist success with oppponents is in his manner and confidence, the aggressor usually wins. the story with the old guy, i think i would try to get rid of hime quietly and without harm, and also, what was he doing there in the first place., maybe you could show me how to levitate and then i would not have to train so hard in the week. got gradings coming soon so please tell me your secret

Cool, keep it up. My opinion is Keysi is JKD Conceptual. Another branch on the JKD tree.

sorry i did not reply sooner, 6 mnths of JKD and 9 mnths of KFM, you have done well. i woulf like to know how KFM has taken JKD to a higher level considering that essentially it is JKD but Andy Normans and Justo's Interpretation. considering you experience in both arts as such i am interested in knowing what the difference is.

    No offence intended

    Keysi evolutionary ???

Hi people im new to the forum and i cam accross this debate and i find it quiet interesting on peoples views towards KFM i agree with almost everything said yes it is evolutionary (modern expression) but so is JKD the whole concept as i understand it (please correct me if i am wrong) is that you have to find what does and does not work for you, this is what KFM and JKD does. I have had many seminars with Bob Breen and Rick Young and i have been training in KFM for about 8 years, both Bob Breen and Rick Young teach JKD but its their interpretition of it yes there is a guideline they follow as i think they both studied under Dan Inosanto but to quote Dan Inosanto "i teach 20 things once they have accomplished these 20 things they are qualified they have to go away and teach, how they teach them 20 things is their option and if they only teach 15 then that their option as well." i must state that 20 is i fake numberDan teaches much more. So how did it become Keysi fighting method, my understanding of it is that keysi is justo's child hood nickname and he is also qualified under Dan Inosanto so has basis is JKD along with several other martil arts. I sincerely cope i don't offend anybody with this just tryin to put some light onto this debate any other questions i will try to answer if not on here try my email E-mail address removed as per MAP Terms of Service
    regards to everybody

live life to the full and enjoy every minute remeber life is all about experience good or bad we should learn from everything and everybody.

Hey archrival keysi, i dont actually know where the name keysi comes from but i agree with what you're saying, its out there for us to investigate...ie. kfm for me is about me investigating various ways and techniques, and various solutions to a problem, cheers for your opinion on kfm though

Keysi roughly translantes as meaning Tornado. It's a reference to reference to how Justo moves..
