Great stuff Wado-AJ - thanks very much for sharing. It's nice to see some more ohyo gumite footage online. The only place I seem to be able to find any is from your clips!
Hahah thank you very much. I enjoyed your message! maybe following posters on youtube will post Mr. Suzuki's ohyo gumite from his "essence of wado ryu" series will post it online. I have the material as well, but I only post myself of somebody who's permission I have.... Good luck training! haha thnx. I have to say that I really like my uke's technique. He started karate in my school. For a 6th kyu he does fine I think I'm still thinking about the center of gravity though. As you can clearly see my gravity center is not above the ankle, but this is also not the objective in this movement. objective: Smooth follow up of both movements (grab, ma-ai correction and mawashigeri). There should be no pause, nor are they simultaneous. So it doesn't effect the objective in this movement. And.. practically I would move forward after this move, because I felt the potential in my body to move wherever I liked. This can be seen in my balance and my mind is also travelling forward, witch can not be soon or maybe through the bending of my knee when I enter the kamae. The upperbody is not hanging back. I'm trying to stay as upright as my hips allow. Still I wonder... This is also because I was looking at old vids of myslef today at the time I was satisfied.. what will the coming years bring me?
Hi AJ, Yes, your uke has good form - especially for a green belt. I agree with you about not pausing during the exercise. As with solo Kata it is important that form remains "live" . From a budo perspective it is unrealistic to stop halfway through an engagement with an attacker. Gary

What made me laugh was how the commentators were surprised at the karate-ka's calmness. Don't they know we're all like that?!

Clearly that was mere crappling and compliant training. Had they been fighting on teh str33t the BJJ guy would obviously have won. Clearly. Mitch
well, if you've seen master asia's instructional video, you'll know that bjj doesn't work in the street, so that's not true .
Was that Mikio Yahara? Apparently he's one of the genuinely hardest guys to have passed through the JKA programme.
Yeah it is. He looks like an absolute nutcase. All I could think was 'this is shotokan done properly'
Is this a Shotokan 'master' ? any opinions on him? [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zg09bGacp0A"]YouTube[/ame]
