there's a hapkido club here, i could get impressions.

others were instructional videos of hapkido and kendo. sure no one controls you, but some videos are at least very detailed.

    Ok let's review

    1) You posted a video
    2) Said video contained poor technique with a weapon
    3) Bluntly told to seek out proper training
    4) butthurt
    5)???
    6) Profit

If you cannot deal with valid criticism do not post a video - also learn to listen to the message not the medium

    "pratting around" ?
maybe it's because english isn't my native language, but isn't that a harder word?

however who says, self-study is always just bad (at least the weaponless), doesn't has a clue.

No it isn't - it is irreverent, but not even close to being harsh

    This would explain a lot

"Self study" as in "practice what you have been taught" = good

Self study" as in "watching a youtube clip and trying to copy it" = bad

Here is another free tip: when people who are much more experienced and skilled than you offer you advice - no matter how harsh it may seem - you would be well advised to follow it

Maybe it's that everyone was trolling or maybe, just maybe, you're really that bad.

It was either that or buggering about but it's been such a long time since I've told someone to stop pratting around.

It's not like I called you a yampy cack-handed wazzock or anything.

learn from a video isn't bad at all. if you let prove it from an experienced guy.
an example: i learned many ground fighting from videos, practised with a partner and later went to sparring events with "real" mma guys to see, if it was effective. and it was. the other guys told me that too. same to boxing. thats proof to me, otherwise, i wouldn't be confident on that. sword, yes, thats one of the few things, i never had a teacher to take a look on.

What sparring events did you go to with "real" mma guys?

Your grappling looks pretty shoddy and loose man, even in a compliant demo.

schools here sometimes do open sparring events for charity. its open to all martial artists, no matter what style.
philosoraptor show stuff, okay, but more important is, to be able to escape situations and maybe submit someone.

Your grappling is not very good - go to a real school and learn it

Yes, I doubt you can do that based on the skills you've demonstrated in the video. It looks like you've learned a few techniques from youtube but lack the background knowledge or experience to put them into practice. Go find a school.

like i said, i put them into practise. if i can escape a kesa gatame or shiho gatame from a heavier judoka or get a toe hold on a mixed martial artist, then yes, i think, self-study was successful. i won't do tournaments, its just for fun.
