You are indeed correct Mitch. The young do say "like a boss". It originates from YouTube produced by Lonely Island. We also have a habit of singing "I just had sex, and it felt so good!", which also originates from a YouTube video produced by Lonely Island. Yeah, I know.
I thought I'd play with Chron O Meter too and record the results. It's been interesting doing this today. Firstly I've realised I snack a lot. If I'm doing the kid's tea I'll end up nibbling a bit of cheese or whatever I'm preparing. Do this at breakfast, dinner and tea and I'm sure it adds up. Secondly I got bored so didn't record all the water I drank as I assume it makes no difference to the totals I need to add the milk I drink in my coffees and tea to this, but that's not much so it's pretty accurate. I'm surprised at how little fat I'm getting, or maybe the target it's set (Paleo diet) is unusually high? Comments from the cognoscenti welcome as always Mitch
Hi Mitch I can't believe how little protein it recommends you having! I'm working from Mark Sisson's guidelines and trying to meet a minimum of 90g a day for maintaining my muscle mass. I'm also shocked at how low the calorie target is. 1507? How much did you tell it you weighed? and how much exercise did you say you are doing? I'm recommended 2766 cal for my 80kg and low activity and I'm sure you are heavier and more active than me!
That's the figures it gave me for my advanced porkage looking to lose weight I'm actually not doing much exercise at the moment due to my knee, not that I recall it asking. I may go have a look at the details again because it all seems a bit odd to me too. Mitch
Hi Mitch I think I have a different version. I don't have the option of saying I want to lose weight or that I want to follow paleo/primal guidelines.
No - it's just they know that people with decent computers either already have perfect bods or are smart enough to work it out themselves!
To up your healthy lipids I suggest you have a bit more extra virgin olive oil on your food seeing as you're not getting animal fats. Alternatively increase your nut intake.
Flipping heck, that's fewer calories than I eat! :wow: You could also try adding coconut oil to things and/or cooking with it. And to mix things up a bit buy a selection of oils from the supermarket - I just bought some avocado oil for cooking with/drizzling on veggies - but try walnut, hazelnut, macadamia nut oils for a bit of variety. Nut butters also work well for adding fat to your diet.
Hello Mitch, Your Calorie breakdown is pear shaped my friend. The fat is way to high. I did a crono meter for myself today. I'll give you my stats it should provide a blue print for what's been working for me. Actual/Recommended Calories 1993/1946 Protein 176.3/162.2 Carbs 238.4/243.3 Fat 38.2/36.0 I try to get a 3,2,1 breakdown of Carbs, Protein, Fat I've been zig zag dieting between 2000 calories and 2500 keeping the same ratios of CPF. Good Luck! EDIT: Edit the Macronutrient Ratio Targets in you profile put them on custom and input the ratios I gave you, I'll bet you get good results
It does seem wrong doesn't it? Don't know why. The percentage splits it gives for paleo is 15/25/65 Protein/Carbs/Fats which strikes me as wrong anyway. I'm thinking something nearer 35/25/40 might be more like it? Mitch
Archiver? I don't think owning a collection even the size of yours is a qualification though you've got the competition beat on experience... Those ratios seem way off for paleo, is there a setting for vegetarian diets that might be skewing the values? To be honest one of the great things about the paleo approach is that it's more about food choice than macronutrient breakdown. Since breeding, agriculture and way lower food diversity means nobody is following a truly paleo diet there's always going to be some leeway. As a vegetarian your diet won't be paleo. It'll be closer than vegan and pescatarians can follow a pretty good coastal paleo variant. Your best choices for protein are probably eggs and dairy products. Then you've got seeds and sprouted beans which are pretty much accepted too. You probably know this but ignore any ideas about enzymes in fruit and veg being substitutes for protein, the body just doesn't work like that.
