Now I don't know how many people would agree with me. But there is a movie section, video game section, and a few things that have nothing to so with martial arts. I just thought maybe there should be a financial section, where those with the entrepreneurial spirit could network and share knowledge, wisdom, business ideas, etc. on things that relate to business and investing. After all, who doesn't want more money in there pocket? All in favor of this idea say I!

I prefer to keep the MA forum for MA discussion only. If I'm interested in non-MA discussion, I won't be here.

I just hate to see the following kind threads overflow the entire forum. It divides people in 2 different groups. I prefer to see that MA can unify us all together.

    - One man beaten by two men with baseball bat...gun changes outcome...
    - Detroit Police chief says armed citizens lowering Detroit crime rate...
    - obama voted worst President since World War 2...I knew it before he was elected...
    - Victor Davis Hanson discusses the obama created humanitarian crisis on border...
    - why liberals hate religion...
    - Yeah...about that global warming science....
    - When facts and beliefs collide... Another climate change article..
    - socialist medicine failing all over the world...
    - Border crisis/democrat recruiting drive continues...
    - ...

I'd hate to think of any legal ramifications for MAP and any members using such a section, should someone act on a discussion that has been had, and end up losing a lot of money...

Also, I agree with YKW - having a few sub-forums for very general hobbies is one thing; but if we have a 'financial' forum, where does it end? Would MAP eventually end up as a 'General Interest' forum, as we add more and more sub-boards, because X or Y member has an interest in a particular subject?

I suppose you may be right. We don't need too many sub forums. I'm just not into video games and movies much.
I just love business, and thought this would be the perfect opportunity to dialogue with likeminded individuals and upgrade myself with business knowledge. People come here from all walks of life and would so a lot of info could be soaked up here.

I guess I can't expect everyone to have the same interests I do. Oh well. If anyone here agrees with me though, speak up cuz I would love to have a Business sub forum.

Do these topics actually exist on MAP? I'd be rather surprised as the rank and file, not to mention the long-time members certainly don't strike me as hard-core right-wing ideologues, lol.

If any of the above topics did surface, I seriously doubt if the thread would go in the direction the OP would presumably want it to, given what I've seen in my time here.

Higher education ( whether formally acquired or through life experiences ) tends to produce multifaceted people with rather diverse interest and skill sets.

I have certainly benefitted from the friends I have here sharing theirs.

Perhaps, rather than prohibiting MAP members from discussing other topics, it would be better to enforce the thread-jacking ( which I have to admit, I'm too often guilty of ) parts of the TOS/MAP etiquette.

I don't mind seeing threads where people discuss business practice for schools, but money making ideas can be very difficult to filter according to suitability for anonymous readers. As I work in a role where I have to achieve and retain Financial Conduct Authority approval for my day to day activities, I in particular would need to be very careful about what I say or allow others to say on my site. I'm not convinced there's enough demand to warrant this, but if it proves a really popular idea, it's a relatively easy change to the software, but would require a serious think about the rules.

In general, business ideas, networking, discussions of best practice would all be fine. Investing into your own business and assets would also be fine. Once you start talking about investment into regulated investments or making use of pension schemes, etc, that runs into the danger of crossing the line. Generic pros and cons would be ok, but specific investment suggestions would, I think, need to be banned.

Does this still make sense as something you want to be considered for the forum?

Well, I seem to be the only one that would like to se something like this...........so don't go though the hassle. I'm sure if I or anyone else would like to look at something like this, there are plenty of forums for business scattered across the net.

(Quotes Bei Mei-; "These maneuvers, who taught them you?")

"These ideas, who taught them you?"

What really would be the prize if anyone has a idea what movie the original quote came from :D

Mushroom De-powered to come back better than before.

The reasoning for sub forums is because they can still be martial arts related as well as those mediums being more "general" and "open".
Discussion of a new MA based movie/game for example.

A finance/business section is a bit too specific in my mind. And to be fair, the only time MAP usually discusses money is either on "how to run a MA school" and arguments on "Fighter's salaries".

The "Off-topic" fora is open for anything else. But I doubt we should be discussing the ins and outs of the Euro on MAP anytime soon.
