Awesomeness of the highest order! [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbixhL6n7cs"]Nasir Ryu Iaido Katas - YouTube[/ame]
Godsdammit, John, you asked for it.... http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=2173322488965 But wait, there's more! Honestly, I don't know what to say about this one... [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3JW2MVnfDQ"]nasir ryu Robot ryu - YouTube[/ame] Oh, and the facebook page is brilliant.... most of it is "Soke" Rasul Nasir posting things, and then answering his own quizs and questions.... Seriously, John, where do you come up with these?
I knew I was going to be wasting my time when before he even drew the sword. I laughed out loud when he got all tangled up in the sageo and when he checked his hand at the very end.
really? i laughed out loud after i replayed it and had a few beers! it's the first iaido that i have seen that starts with the hand on the weapon. usually, the hands are free then draw. it kind of beats the purpose of "fast drawing and striking" if you give the intent away by having you hand on the weapon from the very start. and i don't get what it is he has about twirling the blade. the cutting edge isn't even in play most of the time. also there seems to be no real cutting force either. no show and no "go".
See it and raise you! [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXe8LdbXEdI"]Tenshin Ryu Learn the Way[/ame] Might as well make this thread a compendium of iai & ken no-no's.
"Comment Pending Approval". My guess is that it won't get through... Still, I reckon this one deserves to be in this thread if we're going for bad swordwork (posted on MAP before, but the guy just won't take it down!): [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5e6OU1s7N8"]KATA FUDOSHIN KATANA - YouTube[/ame]
Not exactly sword work, but on the poor weapon display front: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHJAuLmJgvA"]Gun-Kata - YouTube[/ame] Followed by the real attempt (skip to about 1:16): [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEoo82h_Fh4"]Escrima and Inspired Gun Kata 720p HD - YouTube[/ame] Actually he's probably lucky he didn't cut his own legs/arms off lol Best not show up on live ammo day: http://www.youtube.com/v/m4SV2pyiBNo&rel=1
A compilation, or a competition, Steve? A few humble entries, then.... [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXOVVn6prrI"]kenjutsu clip 1 - YouTube[/ame] [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTmRS1TsliI"]Iaijutsu Moshe Kastiel - YouTube[/ame] Hmm, actually that second one may have been a good answer to one of Scott's questions on another thread...
Shocking - some of these folks have obviously put many hours into practicing, to be able to do what they do with the speed they do it.... if only they had used their time actually practicing JSA.
