    Hi Seniors,

I am currently 38 years old, overweight and unathletic, without any martial arts experience.
I saw some youtube video of Silat and find them fascinating and would like to learn more about Silat.
I would like to seek the Seniors' advice:
    1) Would my age and physical condition stop me from being able to progress in Silat.
    2) Around my area, they are offering class in Cindai Putih Silat, any one know what they specialise in and their differences with other Silat.

Do not consider your age to be an impediment. You are not old.
Work to your limits, but do challenge yourself and listen to what your body is telling you. This could be a good way for you to get into better shape and health, while pursuing something you find interesting.

i know nothing of Silat, so cannot comment on that school. But go check it out, watch a couple of classes if they allow (they should!) and evaluate what the atmosphere and attitude is in the school. Is it friendly and welcoming? Would you feel comfortable working with the teachers and other students? Does what they are doing look interesting to you? Can you afford tuition and does the class schedule work with your personal schedule? If so, join up and see how it goes.

Expect to feel awkward and confused. You are beginning something new and alien to you, and this is part of the process. Stick with it, even when it is frustrating and confusing.

no better time than now, to get started. Let us know how it goes!

38 is not old at all.....

I'm a couple years ahead of you, and I started training Silat when I was 17.

Recently (like 6 months ago) I started learning Eskrima De Campo 1-2-3 Original.

My point being you are never to old......
