Ranked 20th in the U.K apparently. It doesn't mean anything, but it's cool all the same. http://www.tapology.com/fightcenter/fighters/49536-thomas-hepburn
Doesn't mean anything? I think it does. The rankings are done via a proprietary formula owned by Tapology. Effort has gone into their ranking system - its not done willy-nilly or the whims of the staff ( as is the problem in such orgs as the UFC, etc. and their rankings. ) emphasis mine. Here are some of the criteria for regional rankings : Regional Eligibility Wins and Losses. Quality of Opponents. Recency of Fights Experience A look at fighters above and below 20th seems to bear out the criteria are used consistently. Come on man, ya did good.
Doesn't mean anything. Are you mad? It means all the sacrifices you've made have been rewarded. Congratulations.
Stop talking yourself down and start shouting from the roof tops. Ranked No. 20 is 20th in the entire country, not out of 421. Everyone else isn't training, or is at the wrong weight, so you are the 20th best featherweight fighter in your weight in the country. Bruce Lee said, "speak so to aim at being cured". So don't say, "maybe next year I'll get one", but rather, "next year I will get one". Michael Jordan (Olympic 400 metre champion) was giving a lecture to a group of aspiring athletes and showed a picture of him crossing the line and winning a medal. He was asked where he would be if Usain Bolt had been competing at the same time. "In front", was his answer, "maybe even so far in front I'd be off the screen", he said. He went on to explain that Bolt would say exactly the same had he been asked the same question because that is the mindset winners have. You're an awesome fighter, Chadderz, you have the eye of the tiger, the right coaches and every opportunity to go and get that belt. You just have to believe it. We believe it.
PREACH. Haha, I know that to be any sort of champion you need that. For me I stay humble, keep it low key, but there is a tiny part of me that believes I can do anything. Beat Conor McGregor, Jose Aldo, be world champion. It's a tiny part that I never really tell anyone about, but it's a tiny part that everyone needs. Call it insanity but every fighter needs it, and I have it. I just don't share it. Hence why it's easy to play down this stuff
Wow. Well done man. Very well done. As an aside, you might want to speak to your manager about your career earnings...
I don't get belts in Shinkendo or Toyama Ryu.(pretty sure aikidoka use the classical ranking system too) The diploma is sufficient for me.
20th out of 421 fighters dude? That puts you inside the top 5% - Definitely a major milestone, and one well deserved me thinks. Regards Travess
