Hi all, New to this site, but looks like there's a great community here. I'm interested in taking up Iaido - but am having a deal of difficulty finding a dojo in the Midlands. Can anyone recommend a respected instructor / dojo in the Leicester, Nottingham or Derby area? Birmingham might be possible too, depending on times and so on. I'm particularly interested, from my reading, in Eishin Ryu. Thanks all!
We do seitei/MJER iai and HNIR kenjutsu, based in Brownhills, a few mins from A38 - but we have guys travel in from Notts.
Yes....but you guys don't do the REAL Japanese sword. I mean I think this guy is looking for the REAL Japanese sword. Can you PROVE you do the REAL Japanese sword. I'm not talking about just any old made up stuff. I'm talking about REAL...jen-u-whine....teacher-got-slant-eyes....we-wear-the-old-uniforms....gotta-drink-tea-before-and-after.....completely-commando-at-all-times......honest-to-gosh Japanese sword. Best Wishes, Bruce
No, it seems like the OP is looking for (and has read about) MJER. I am obviously missing the joke here.
If you cannot make it to Birmingham easily, and are closer to Nottingham There is a great MJER club in Radcliffe http://www.eikoku-roshukai.com/index.php?title=Club_Directory What town do you live in? Maybe we can find you one even closer?
Yes...and a bad joke at that....pay no attention to the man behind the keyboard..... Best Wishes, Bruce

I recommend you have a look at ScottUK's dojo in Brownhills, Walsall. I haven't visited in a long time, but the people are nice and damn good at what they do. They train in ZNKR Seitei iai, ZNKR seitei jodo, Muso Jikiden Eishin-ryu iaido and Hyoho Niten Ichi-ryu kenjutsu.
