Lol, I wasn't being serious. I'm sorry, I know harukoraharu . . . . this isn't the Epic Troll Thread.
Mea culpa, my friend. I get accused of having a very dry wit. And for all that, I'm absolutely dreadful at spotting it in anyone else.
To be honest, I find it boring to watch. I wish I had the athleticism to do it, but it's like watching a spinning top go round and round - OK for a few seconds but I couldn't watch it for long. I think I'd rather watch it in the form of choreographed fight scenes. It's not a big step from that to something like this [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grxKUoeyEjQ"]07 Bangkok Knockout 2011 - YouTube[/ame] and I find it more engaging when there's at least a pretence at martial application and playing off a partner.
I disagree with the idea that the kicks are very similar. Sometimes there is chamber and full extension, but many times its just swinging feet. The pivot isn't always there, and many times the foot reaches a target, but no power is there. Now I know that power isn't the goal, but thats why I don't think it is martial arts. Thats like saying soccer is like martial arts because the kick is similar to a front kick to the shin. At least I feel that way. Exactly why I don't like it
actually it's a bit more like ka-po-'A'-ra (as in the letter 'A'). i think it'd help if you imagine it with an irish accent
That's true, I can understand that. But that's why it's not called a "martial art" but rather it's influenced by martial arts. Most professional trickers have a background in martial arts. If I hadn't of done taekwondo before tricking, my kicks would be pathetic. But right now the height and torque I get on my tricking kicks is insane.
I really recommend tricking to any serious martial artist, the body awareness you achieve from it is unparalleled.
I vastly prefer this: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWBWYEcapHc"]Acrobacias e Jogo Duro de Capoeira - YouTube[/ame]
You realize all of that is incorporated into tricking, right? Tricking is taking all of that to the next level.
I would argue that it is taking it to a different level, not the next level. Martial arts tricking is not combative, Capoeira definately is.
Capoeira acrobats are as useless as tricking in combat. So in a way, tricking is taking the acrobats to another level.
