The Winter Solstice is,for me, a time for optimism, looking forward to lengthening days and the prospect of renewal and growth. No coincidence that christian tradition, usurped a traditional pagan time of celebration that gives people hope at the darkest, hardest time of year. Also for me , a time to be grateful for what I've got, look back and remember loved ones who are no longer around and resolve to make the most of whatever cards life deals me. 'Nuff serious stuff-eat,drink and be merry !!
Happy Yule! When People ask me about what I celebrate, I tell them- same basic holiday - just a different sun king.
I'm no pagan (I'm not anything realy) but happy winter solstice to everyone any way. Happy excuse to get fat and drink lots with a bad jumper on
It was a lovely Solstice day today. Best wishes to all. I look forward to the gradual lengthening of days. Cheers & safe travels.
Late to the party... family life limits my access to MAP sometimes. Solistice blessings! Will raise a horn of mead after training later.
Happy Yule! Since we're here on a forum discussing things, here's an apt quote from Havamal: 57. Brand kindles from brand until it be burned, spark is kindled from spark, man unfolds him by speech with man, but grows over secret through silence. -Mark
