Hmmm....like the use of bold to show it gets louder (I think that's what is implied) but it is tricky innit.
technically it's another instrument emphasising each note. Knowing what the song is I think the giveaway is the 'tsss..tp', but that might not help if you don't know the tune! This is the oldest song in the thread so far
As my ego is pretty big when it comes to this sort of rock music related stuff...I would like you all to know that I am listening to the song now. But 'cause I am such a nice person...I'd like someone else to have a go, get the answer and join in the fun and games.

I'm coming up short I have to say....I feel like I know it but just can't get it to form properly. Is it slow tempo? It's from the early 70's or 60's?
