Greetings everyone, I am located in the great Pacific Northwest and have been training in a system called Kwon Bup/Kang duk Won for over 20 years. I am currently 50yrs old. I first began training in Shudokan at the age of 14 and later switched to the Kwon Bup. My hobbies include anything in the great outdoors. I try to play the guitar, but others in my family have that locked down. I joined MAP, in order to get connected with like minded individuals. And, to discuss the martial Arts, in their many varieties.
Yes, it is a Korean Karate, developed by a student of Toyama Kanken (Shudokan), Yoon Byung, through Park Chee(I think that's they way you spell it) to Norman Rha, who moved to the U.S. in the 60's, to Robert J Babich...who developed the current Kwon Bup.
Probably more like TKD as it was one of the 9 kwans that formed TKD. But, it is a Karate based system.
I’d like to know more about similarities and differences compared to taekwondo, as well as the self-defence aspects.
