Just wanted a thread dedicated to good striking videos, preferably short tutorials. I realised there aren't a lot on youtube, or they're difficult to find. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=biA4REvUr8g[/ame] TakingittotheMMAt is one of my favourite Youtube Channels: [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgZl3_98C0Q&list=UUJkdWOwihhrQ1CMcT5vTpug"]Ross Pearson Striking Combo - YouTube[/ame]
Not a tutorial, but I just like watching Liam hit things http://youtu.be/OScPdfllWK4 http://youtu.be/Cggf0CJcCCs
First video is an anti shoot drill video. Grappling generally isn't allowed in most forms of Kickboxing. I know Kickboxing can be used in MMA ButI think it would be better in a MMA thread I think personally. Second video I would have preferred to scoop the kicking leg as shown and step in and sweep up with the other arm across the body Thai style. His kick, as shown, would have landed on the point of his opponents elbow if guard was controlled well enough. Again, it seemed more MMA focused rather than Kickboxing. Useful for K1 Rules where there's limited clinch though I suppose. Liam Harrison is a legend. Speaking of pad videos I still buzz off the Dieselnoi video that floats around of him destroying his padman with knees, lol. I'll throw some videos up when I'm on the PC again. My phone doesn't like this forum much.

Yeah but this is specifically a Kickboxing forum. If you're not overly fussy this would probably better belong in a general discussion forum mate. Personally I associate Kickboxing with the sport. Most people who come here probably would too. Shouldn't videos here really be associated with the sport and style? So far what I've seen doesn't really relate much to Kickboxing. Pretty much why Kickboxing gets gets looked down on as it's never represented or even explored properly in its own form. Oh and a striking thread definitely needs more Buakaw!
I seen him throwing spinning back kicks at his last fight. I heard in Thai culture that's supposed to be very disrespectful (to touch someone's face with your foot)?
I love it man, that was like martial arts porn back in the day, the kinda stuff you ordered from the back of BB magazine, Freakin awesome.
Mustn't overlook Saenchai either! Cartwheel kicks and jumping axe kicks make him look flashy but he's a beast arty everything else too! http://youtu.be/gJ-JSVxsPaU
I really like Rodney's teaching [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgAgq02ZYk8&list=PLrpurmFeC5AE-5dDweNXcdlbMF9WSgrj-"]BUILDING THE ULTIMATE STRIKER EPISODE 1: THE FIGHTING STANCE - YouTube[/ame] [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGMWAL9-5fE"]BUILDING THE ULTIMATE STRIKER EPISODE 2: CORE FOOTWORK - YouTube[/ame]
In Thai culture, its kinda bad manners to show the sole of your foot. So there's the theory of no teeps to the face. I thought that was the case...till I saw teeps to the face I think its more for "don't put your feet up on the table" kinda environment when that "rudeness" kicks in.
its hard to imagine the thai vedic and buddhist kidgdoms of old going to war and being like "i want you to brutally slaughter enemy in a flurry of weapons, knees and elbows. but dont you dare put a foot in their faces"
It's disrespectful to teep someone in the face in Thai Boxing, but it doesn't stop fighters from doing it in the ring. You'll usually see it when one of the two fighters has a grudge.
IIRC you can't point your soles at pictures of royalty either. Or even the royal in the picture in reality.
This video is full of striking gold. I don't entirely get everything he's on about but there's plenty to mull-over. I love when he says about not showing his chin "you gotta earn it!". [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-urM2RZLM4"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-urM2RZLM4[/ame]
theres a lot of rules regarding royalty there. you cant talk ill about the king tbf though he's probably the most useful modern monarch
That was incredible. He managed to distill a lot of the fundamental principles of fighting in a matter of minutes. That is the best, most concise, video on striking I've ever seen!
