We've been doing more pad drills in our dojo the last few weeks, and our instructor is making it a regular thing at the start of the class. Subsequently, he's recommended picking up a set of gloves of some kind to protect our hands for these drills. Now, I'm wondering if something along the lines of a pair of MMA-style padded fingerless gloves might give enough flexibility to be able to wear them for the whole class, or would they restrict one from using some of the finger-based striking techniques we use?
We were gauntlets as part of the traditional outfit but I've never heard of any dojo that wears gloves to train before?
We use them for bag work and pad drills, but not for anything else. When we do wear gloves, they're the fingerless ones.
