Got my first tap tonight in BJJ class! Been there about 2 months. Just a couple classes ago I tapped 4 times in a 5-min roll, and that's usually how it goes. Seldom do I survive the entire roll without tapping. But tonight -- tonight I got a newbie. And he felt different. "Hey, I actually feel space. I should pull his arm this way. Hey, his balance isn't right. [sweep to mount] Hey, his elbows are up. He's letting me get high mount. ... Hey, I can arm bar this guy! I've seen this position before!" First victory is so sweet.
I pulled him into full guard, and then with a 2-on-1 grip I pulled his arm across my body with the intent to look for an arm bar or triangle. But instead he collapsed onto me too much, so I just rolled to that side -- he had no arm with which to post, so it was easy to flip my hips in that direction.
