Euro sword dances ARE FMA drills?

    In European society there were dances for pleasure and 'dances' for war, some of these took the form of Sword Dances which were also known as phyrric dances after the set patterns employed by warriors of ancient Greece.

    Thoinot Arbeau's 'Orchesographie' illustrations represent a sword dance in France from the 1550s to the 1580s.

    To anyone familiar with FMA, the basic High-High-Low-Low stick drill is instantly recognisable......

    Great post.

    It only goes to show you that at the end of the day with two arms, two legs and a head connected by a central trunk, we're all bound to come up with the same ideas even if we're geographically separated.
