what do you guys think of elbows to the body in a kyokushin rule fight? when ever i think of it i get reminded of bajiquan. it has some good body elbows i think. i started wondering about it when a kid wanted to know why i was practicing so many elbows on the bag since we weren't allowed to use im in the fights.

Also. can someone gimme a link or something to a page that lists all the rules in kyokushin tournaments? thanks =D

See here. Unless I'm mistaken, the only prohibited acts and techniques in regard to Elbow strikes is to any part of the opponents back and face.

However the rules my change slightly between organisation and/or country.

  3. osu 6footgeek,

Generally, elbow strikes follow the same rules as hand strikes:
    - no hitting (or faking) to the face/head
    - no hitting (or faking) to the neck

With the addition of no downwards strike with the point of the elbow to the back or the kidneys.

I encourage you to check this out with your Sensei/Shihan as rules vary from org to org & from tourney to tourney.

    Osu!
