http://www.nisaai.org/ To me it appears to be a Genbukan offshoot(with a self titled Shihan ceo), although could be wrong. Its just things like this that make think :bang: and also also Has anyone trained with or "bumped into this teacher?
I'm pretty sure Ariza was originally a Koga Ryu guy, who tried to switch over to the Genbukan a couple of times. If I remember right, he did run a dojo under the Genbukan, but never was ranked anywhere even close to 7th Dan.
I think this is the crux to much of the ninjer groups. It concerns people who want to teach something fascinating, cool, mystical etc. Yet they do not want to put in the time it takes to get a teaching grade/license in one of the regular ninjutsu orgs, so they go with something else. Regards, Tom.
In the Genbukan, 7th dan would be VERY highly ranked.am I correct? Im also wondering about a few of his other styles such as Ikeda DaitoTe Aiki-Jujutsu, which im almost positive doesnt really exist..Ill look it up after coffee.
Add to that "Kukami Karate", which seems to be a mixture of the alternate reading of "Kuki" combined with Tanemura Sensei's Koryu Karate concept/Ryu-ha grouping. The Kukami reading I've come across more with Tanaka Fumon, who teaches a branch of Kukishin Ryu under the reading of Kukamishin Ryu. I haven't come across the Genbukan using this pronunciation, or anyone else, really.
Ahhh coffee. Anyway after a few searches, the Daito Ryu system keeps coming back to his website. The claim of "7th Dan in Kobujutsu (Weaponry) and Asian Philosophy" makes me think of Juko kai, and being "A fully asian accredited school"...Asia is a big place. edit*Ahh the Mathew Hopkins tag has arrived, looks like we've made it..
He was a team member of the National Ninjutsu Team USA This made me scratch my head very hard indeed - and I am not even a practitioner!
There are 8 people in the whole of Genbukan with 7th or 8th dan. All of them have been with Genbukan since the founding of Genbukan IIRC. All minus one of them (my countryman Guy Aerts Shihan, 7th dan) live in Japan. So yes, 7th dan is incrediby highly ranked withing Genbukan. It's something that more than 99% of the members will never be able to achieve.
For your information : Guy Aerts is a kyoshi not a shihan. All the Genbukan shihan are in Japan (most of the time). Mister Ariza never understood what Genbukan was about and had only a low dan grade (maybe only a honorary rank when he started). All the best.
I don't know who the hell those guys are, but the verbatim quotes from our website is not appreciated. Might pass this further up the chain....
