I can only manage about 5 clap push ups at a time at the moment as I am rubbish! I am better than I was however, as I no longer smsh my face on the floor. I hate pushups and really need to try and get better- my upper body strength (apart from my stomach) is pretty shoddy at the moment
Try them with someone between your face and the floor as it forces you to push up higher and to plant your palms back down quickly. We use giant clay flowerpots which we use up turned for lion dance practice but are also handy in clapping push ups.
So if I fail I headbutt them? Niiiiice Have tried normal pushups elevating my legs but not both hands and feet yet!
What I would suggest is, getting into one handed push up position, but using your other hand to help you. It'll give you balance and the little bit of extra strength you need.
i used clapping pushups to spite a training officer in ROTC who thought he'd punish me by asking me to do 20 regulars. :evil:
I dont think there is a ratio but just do as many as you can till you slip out and bash your face on the floor. lol
