Probably not very yummy. Masala simply means spice. So masala tea would be spice tea... in all it's glorious variations. However you'd do well to remember that it has nothing at all to do with curry or chicken bits.
I think a protein based meaty tea/coffee drink could take off though I had a thing for Chai a while back, but recently have really gone off it.
Yeah the vast majority of chai out there is crap. It's a term that's been glommed onto by the big chains and has very little to do with properly made Chai tea. In India the shops that sell the masala's all have their own secret recipes and blends. It's quite an artform. One that's been going on for hundreds of years. My missus has so many different mixes in the kitchen she finally had to label the one that I can use for my tea 'smell's and tastes good masala'
Sir, yes Sir!!! What if it's chicken masala tea? ORRRRRRRRRRRRRRr a Vindaloo tea, OMG, imagine that? All the colours of the rainbow...
That's not so far out there. Teas are often used in recipes for food, i.e. as marinades. I wouldn't be surprised if there were recipes that did the same with coffee. I'm not so sure about meat-flavored tea/coffee drinks, though..
Why buy cruddy chai when you can make your own? crudiness is optional. http://www.cdkitchen.com/recipes/cat/1064/0.shtml
Oh dear god, Su.....what have you created. Buy your Curried Martials Arts Planet tea here! Choose form a range of strengths: Korma, massala, vindaloo. the choice is yours!
The chinese rest. nearby has 2 dozen varieties, each labelled with its "medicinal" properties. Some of my favorites are Dragon Pearl (a green tea with leaves rolled into little balls), Roasted Wheat tea (not sure this is really tea as it has weird pods in it and stuff), Chrysanthemum Tea (pieces of flowers and comes with chunks of rock sugar), "Smile of the Queen" is a rich black... sooo many sooo good....
Probably comparable to Japanese Genmaicha, a very popular kind of Japanese tea that has roasted rice in it.
Mmm I have some of that with the roasted rice, I drank some forgetting the rice was there a while back and almost choked on it.
