Help required from those of you with some muscular knowledge.

I have a pain in my chest on the right hand side. It feels as though the muscle has pulled away from the breastbone. I believe it to be a muscle strain from when I was loading a vehicle earlier in the week.

The concern I have is I have just looked in the mirror and noticed the right pec and shoulder have completely dropped.

There is no bruising or marking on the chest and the pain in localised to the right pec about 1-2 inches from the centre of the breast bone.

By the way, teaching disarms during the eskrima lesson hurted* a lot.

    * In this instance hurted is a proper word.

Simon - get yourself to a professional medical practitioner.

The fact that the shoulder has dropped as well concerns me. Are you sure it's not your collarbone and the pec is taking the stress and thus manifesting the most pain?

Thanks jwt, I had not considered that as the potential problem.
    I will take your advice.

Good luck & get to the hospital. Unless you've a great doctor try the local hospital if it has a drop in centre or even A&E

Ouch Simon. Collarbone sounds plausible but I think they normally go from impact (it's the classic injury for motorcycle racers who crash and land on their side/shoulder, it serves as a crumple zone).

Get yourself checked fella, we need the good guys out there fighting the good fight :)

I hope it is not as bad as advertised & that you get better soon.

    Thanks guys.

The word is I am stupid and carried on with work today. Work is really busy and it is all hands on deck. Luckily I have an office job.

The pain is eased with pain killers and I have asked my wife to make an appointment with the doc.
It will not go untreated and I will get it looked at in the next couple of days,

Okay Simon. Got to confess from the description, in your shoes I'd have driven to A&E.

Could it be an AC joint separation?
I had it once from a bad landing, luckily it was a grade 1 separation, but it still took me a couple of months before I could fully use that shoulder.

Just come back from the doctors and all appears to be well.

As suspected I have a strain/pull of the pec major, maybe even a slight tear in some of the muscle fibres.

Mild painkillers and no being stupid has been recommended.

I have a new doctor. I had to take my top off in front of a woman. Jeepers. :woo:

  20. Osu,

Good it is nothing too serious; a little rest and "not being stoopid" will do it. ;)
