nicknames hi evryone ive been doing capoeira for 4-5 months here in Japan. my nickname is Caxixizinho. i got mine for my great skill of making small caxixi's lol.
Mines Elfo, Elf, cause I'm blonde, fair complexion, pointed ears, thin...etc They said I almost got Garfield as a nickname :O lol Elfo
Bigorna, which translates into "anvil." Got that name because of my physique when I first started training in Capoeira. People would kick my legs or attempt rasteiras and couldn't sweep me, so my instructor nicknamed me Bigorna.
Mine is Caneta. it means Pen. Its been years since anyone in my group got a nickname and then when some of the more senior students agreed that the nicknames should be brought back my Contra Mestre explained why not all nicknames have a cool meaning behind them. We have a skinny 5'4'' guy named Gigante. Another one named Taturana (a hairy caterpillar) because he had thick eyebrows. He also gave us the story as to why he stopped giving nicknames. As for mine, after his story he took the nearest student without a nickname (me) and the first thing he noticed on the desk (a pen). The rest is history.
