Hi All Apologies if this has been done to death (maybe my search-fu is weak), but anybody here done any of these type of events? I fancy having a go, but would value opinions, and also any recommendations for very beginner training drills (just about the level of don't hold the pointy end) Cheers BRD
I don't see the point because the outcome would always be the same. GREAT BRITAIN WINS! FLAWLESS VICTORY!
What type of opinion do you want? Is it representative of Western historical martial arts? No Does it look like loads of fun? Yes.
What Sifu Ben said. And one actually would hold the pointy end when using a sword against armour, but I'm assuming that's illegal in BoTN. It's called a Mortschlag:
Oh man, even my pointy end instincts are wrong! Yes, it does look fun which is why I fancy giving it a go. I have a few weeks before my first session, any recommendations on anything I can do to prep for it?
Make sure you have good medical insurance! The MHB battles can be very intense, and the injury rate is quite high. I'm not saying don't do it. If I were 20 years younger I'd give it a go.
I think in that war it was in essence British colony versus British mainland. Either way - Brits win!
Had a little taster session of this yesterday - big fun! Smashing people with padded swords, throws, bit of an armour demo - cracking. Nice guys enjoying a bit of a scuffle - what else is free time for?
