Banning Trolls, a question for the mods...

In a recent thread, a troll I won't mention was really laying it on thick with BigMikey and started it off by slamming me. BM knows who I'm talkin' bout, YO.

Anyway, how fast do you mods decide to ban the little losers? This particular one made me feel so, so intelligent that I guess, I enjoyed seeing his warped little mind try to have a battle of wits with Big Mikey and was losing badly by the way.....

 

SOB2 was banned within 30 minutes. I call that fast moderator action.

'Buy my cialis linkz' trolls are normally gone quickly. Troll implosions like this one are sometimes given a little time for members to play with, like kittens with a mouse. My personal favourites are the unaware trolls who just can't believe they're wrong in spite of overwhelming evidence. These can go without a ban indefinitely unless they move to the aforementioned troll implosion type.

If he doesn't do any harm e.g. hijacking threads/being abusive; and provide entertainment for a while e.g. thefiercehadou; cant all their threads get migrated to a 'Troll's Graveyard TV Channel' forum - so that the entertainment can continue and that the Troll be UNIVERSALLY marked as such for barking too much nonsense i.e. one step away from a boxing match with Kuma.

Hence, for those who wish to ignore the baloney, its easy to avoid the 'Troll's Graveyard TV Channel' forum; but the bruisers can wade in, guns blazing.

Sometimes the garbage from Trolls is more gripping than real TV (which is usually vaccous tripe these days.)

 

They seem to be getting worse, more brazen and more numerous; a bit like the internet detritus of computer viruses, so something should be done about them.

 

There are pesky ones like Izumizu who cleverly hung around for a long time (like a nasty rash); without breaking TOS, but purposely derailing serious thread discussions. roadtoad (still not banned as far as I know) is one in waiting - he does not derail threads as such, but spins out impossible yarns of baloney that make even moderately serious discussion impossible.

That said, I reckon MAP mods do a very good job.

 

Troll category examples :-

Izumizu - unpleasant pot smoking luny thread derailer - difficult to ban quickly.
thefiercehadou, wushurichard - entertaining :->goto 'Trolls Graveyard TV CHannel Forum"
son(s) of bolo - idiotic numpty - instant ban.
roadtoad - ineffective once trampled upon i.e. incapable of generating anything, feeds of scraps.
ninjitsu trolls - indescribable lunatics, no idea what you do with them.
FMA trolls - derranged lunys, Pat usually sorts them out.
