it's the usual answer when anything medical is googled, it ends up getting the worse hits first (probably based on the most clicked). I'll have to wait a week for the answer It's not stopping me doing anything, so I'll carry on as normal.
I think it's actually based off of your own search history, so, if you are getting dodgy results? Not hating, just stating... Glad It's negatively impacting on you, but still, fingers crossed all the same mate. Travess
Chest X ray didn't show anything bad. I have a referral to a specialist, so on with the show. Monday 16th 4.15 mile run 41mins 164bpm AVG HR. Tuesday 17th Missed BJJ to spend evening with my wife the night before our daughters birthday. It was pretty traumatic experience, so we do this every year to celebrate them both making it. Wednesday Daughter's birthday, recovery day involved lots of cake. Thursday BJJ 1 hour Attacking the turtle - to one side feeding your gi through to sit back choke. Friday- Sunday Recovery. Monday I didn't think I'd be able to get to training on Tuesday, so restarted the lifting. Squat 20kgx10, 40kgx10, 50kg 2x10 Bench 20kgx10, 40kgx10, 60kg 2x10 Deadlift 60kg x5, 80kgx5, 100kg x5 Curl 20kg 2x10 Neck harness 5kg 2x10. 2 hour rest, then 2.1 mile run 23 minutes. 10 minutes stretching 10 minutes ice bath Tuesday Plans changed, BJJ was likely to happen, so instead of 3-4 mile run, I rested as I felt a bit sore and in the evening 1 hour BJJ. High elbow guillotine from turtle. I've been studying a lot of material in butterfly guard, and this is paying off, I'm managing to get sweeps in, and also dealing with pass attempts on strong butterfly guard. Wednesday 2 mile walk. BJJ 1 hour Butterfly sweep and reverse sweep. Happy to get to drill this. Sparring I was able to get lots more butterfly sweeps in, and one of those days where a lot clicked, plenty of arm bars from s mount, but still have problems finishing arm bar from guard (usually get stacked or fall over to standard jujigatame).
Thursday no idea if I can make training or not later, hoping to if timings all come together. Lunch time 30 min walk and a quick lift. Deadlift 60kg 2x5 80kg 3x5 10 minutes stretching.
Thursday continued... (the sequel?) BJJ 1 hour Escaping the turtle from front attack. 2 hands on one knee, switch outside hand to ankle shin to stop them moving, up on feet circle towards and drive into hip. same front pressure, drive forward under, one hand down, other hand hook behind knee, push up and tilt over sideways. sparring was great, first round with a higher belt who caught me on a kimura with the over under pass. I read about this before, couldn't remember the counter, but largely down to a more skilled partner with great timing. Pulling off butterfly sweeps much more now, and arm bar from s mount seems to be coming together. Friday 4.2 mile run 42min 163bpm AVG HR. Started first mile at 150bpm ish, 2nd mile 160bpm, 3rd 170bpm ish, then eased back to 160 ish for the last.
Saturday-Sunday Recovery Monday I felt run down over the weekend, and not much improvement by Monday, so setting this week as recovery. Lifting deload Squat 20kgx5 40kg 2x5 Bench 40kg 3x5 Deadlift 60kgx5 Chin ups 2x5 Bent row 20kg 2x5 Neck harness 5kg 2x5 10 minutes stretching. Tuesday-wednesday Recovery Thursday BJJ 1 hour Felt back in track for this session. Cross arm strangle from guard and wrapping the arm when they defend for an alternative choke. 3 rounds of sparring. Found myself in best position to work over under pass a few times. Friday Recovery, nothing more that a 2 mile walk. Feeling sore again, lots of aching all over as with earlier in the week. I suspect a mixture of last week's increased volume and fighting a virus which has affected a few family members. Note to self to get the flu vaccine booked. I have a referral booked for respiratory specialist in November.
Last weekend was recovery. Monday 3.8 mile run 41 minutes, 152bpm AVG HR Later in the day lifting, hands and right wrist sore, so less weight bearing on the hands. Squat 5 reps of 20, 40, 60, 60kg. Chin ups 3, 5, 5 Paid Push ups 5, 10, 12 Tuesday 2 mile walk Wednesday Rest Thursday 1.5 hour BJJ Hip bump sweep, then fake hip bump to traingle.
been a bit run down recently and slacking on activity/logging. Tuesday 15th 1 hour BJJ Closed guard omoplata Great to learn this as I've never done the sub before. Omoplata to triangle. Wrist has been very sore for a while and moreso after this, amongst other aches. Cold came out on Thursday. A few days of rest and I felt good enough to get back to the routine on Monday 4 mile run. 40 mins, felt good, relatively untaxing run. I planned to lift on Wednesday or Thursday, but instead this was replaced with furniture moving in preparation of doing my son's new bedroom. Kept a wrist support strap on for the lifting and no problems. Good news; my BJJ coach got a new place set up and refurbished as a full time gym! Class times changed a bit and more classes available. Pictures look awesome so I was glad to get there Friday lunch Friday 21st 1 hour BJJ Great set up in the new place. Omoplata from closed guard, Then triangle from omoplata. Was glad to get another chance to practise. Sparring was great, I was conscious about my wrist, so I avoided too much collar chokes, and grips, kept my grips brief for a setup for sweep. After I felt very sore in my ribs, probably that heavy guy who had me in side control and mount A weekend of resting and then another week back at the new BJJ gym!
Monday 28th - 1 hour BJJ first evening class at the new place. Probably the only evening class I can consistently go to (with family commitments), but this isn't a problem as they have several midday classes which are easier for me to get to Ground work - closed guard standing break to outside pressure pass. Tuesday recovery; well I was shifting a lot of furniture prior to Friday's plans for setting up my son's new bedroom - probably considered a workout. Furniture arrived also, so no chance of getting in the garage! 10 minutes stretching/yoga Wednesday - 1 hour BJJ sitting closed guard break to knee slide pass. A few nice touches on adjusting the kesa gatame positon to set up for back take. 5 minutes stretching later in the day. Thursday once again, a lot of furniture moving and prep work - more furniture arrived, so shifted this around to navigate through the house. Friday I had the day off, so the final prep work, then painting and furniture assembling - not a "workout" but certainly a whole day of calorie burning resistance work! Unfortunatley we did not finish it all in time for son's return from school, but it was enough to present his new room to him (which he was very happy about). the fumes in the room meant he had to sleep in his old room. Saturday no rest yet, the last few wardrobes. and cupboards to carry down, then relocate my office to his old room. First another carrying task down 2 flights of stairs. Great resistance training. Sunday more moving and tidying up. Monday part of the new hallway furtniture assembled after work. The paint fumes have unsurprisingly affected my chest, this along with me feeling sore and very tired meant I decided to opt not going to BJJ in the evening, instead I had an early night. (always feel guilty about skipping classes, even though I know it's better for the long term). Tuesday recovery day! and some stretching/trigger point rolling (20 minutes) Wednesday 6th Nov - 1 hour BJJ back to it, I felt good, a lot of aches cleared up, chest felt okay enough. ground work - scissor sweep, really good to work on this. followed up with a scissor sweep to traingle (when they post). Also great to work on the triangle. not sure if I'll have time to train again this week as there is more boxed furniture to be assembled when the time is free. Also need to get that flu vaccination sorted!! edit: should probably add that I have been cutting down on snacks in the effort to lose a bit of fat since the end of August (at 14st 5lbs) Current weight avg 13st 10lbs this week.
Friday 1 hour BJJ Balloon sweep, it's been a while since i drilled this, was good to go over it again. Focusing on half guard for sparring. Weekend More furniture assembly Monday 1 hour BJJ Closed guard to foot on bicep to straight arm lock or omplata. Got lots of sparring rounds with higher grades, lots of fun smesh. Wednesday 1 hour BJJ Spider guard sweep
Thursday I've been feeling run down for a while, I hoped to get a run in today, but more furniture assembly took up the free time i had. I think it worked out better as a few days off anything intense would probably be beneficial.
Friday rest, chest was not great. Saturday more DIY, not so restful, but got some more furniture fitted- Sunday more DIY, painting - so lets see if my mask stops the fumes triggering my asthma Monday Chest feels okay, so went to evening BJJ class - 1 hour worked de la riva, with them sitting down, then putting the hook leg through to sweep, then knee slide pass. Alternate sweep the other way to over under pass. This was a variation to the over under pass I'm used to, it was good to drill this as I've used the pass frequently.
Tuesday nothing exciting, a 55min brisk walk with the doggy. 20 minutes foam/trigger point roller and yoga/stretching. Ongoing tightness in the right calf and quad, a reoccurring issue which is alleviated after a few minutes of torture/rolling. Wednesday 1 hour BJJ work and traffic meant I was late burpees for me! ground work, from spider, as they come to combat base, shrimp and hook the foot around the front leg to push out and triangle. A variation with the partner posturing back with an ankle pick. I use the ankle pick a fair amount when the same happens in sparring, so I was glad to drill it some great sparring, and I'm always surprised when I see people skipping rounds for a break, I wouldn't consider myself particularly endurant in that aspect, but I hate to miss out on an opportunity to spar! If I'm feeling tired/worn out I think it's a great opportunity to test/focus on technique recently I have been focusing a lot of my off mat study on half guard. some of which is proving fruitful in sparring
Thursday 1 hour walk. 1 hour of furniture removal, not exactly a workout, but broke a sweat. Friday Didn't have time to get to class on time, so got in with more furniture moving in the house and tidying up. Good resistance training carrying a double futon up 2 flights if stairs. Weekend is planned rest, i.e. no strenuous diy or furniture moving, but we'll see
A restful weekend, much needed. Monday BJJ 1 hour Spider sweep to ashi garami sweep to knee cut pass to side control. Some great sparring, more of a hammer type of day. I had a hospital appointment checking my lung function. Initial tests were good. A new inhaler; spiriva. We'll see how this one goes. Awaiting blood test results, no idea how long they take, but 6 months for a follow up. Weight was fine for their records I've shrunk a bit, just under 6foot. Tuesday Rest Wednesday 1 hour BJJ Side control to knee on belly, mount trapping the far arm, then Ezekiel choke. Side control to knee on belly, then pull back to traingle.
Thursday/Friday Recovery Saturday DIY. Thought i would put my watching on "strength training" whilst i carried and constructed furniture. 2hours 805kcal 96bpm avg hr Daily output was 3772kcal Sunday Mostly tidying up Monday 1 hour BJJ Passing the x guard Felt very fatigued, which meant i ended up working on escape from side control often Tuesday 1 mile walk back feeling fatigued from the weekend.
Wednesday Asthma was bad today, i wasn't sure about training, but after some extra inhaler and steam on my chest i felt well enough. 1 hour BJJ. X guard, x guard pass to knee slide and alternative pass to mount. I managed to roll fairly conservatively to deal with my asthma being bad. I think it's good to spar when I'm not 100% as it forces me to think about the technique more rather than getting to a position quicker, or applying with strength.
Thursday-Sunday I had time off work and I put this to good use by recovering Kids were away at the weekend, so I even got a full 9 hour sleep! Monday 1 hour BJJ Working the Sao Paulo pressure pass, and a follow up drill on side control to high mount. 25 minutes sparring, which finished with my first roll with the coach which was s great experience, and I was completely ruined at the end. Then I got a belt promotion to blue belt Very happy, today was a day.
