What a great example of conditioning, as proved in this video of this MA getting walloped in the testicles (kick is in embedded Vid 2) http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&NR=1&v=pB7gnB31NnI [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a86cQobU-n4"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a86cQobU-n4[/ame] Sorry about the embedding.. I would totally volunteer for Tori, not Uke roles here.
For the love of god, WHY? Shame they didn't have an explanation for him taking the throat chop. He did have massive tendons that he tensed before the impact, but still.
Actually those throat chops are very easy to take - its the least impressive of the "chi party tricks"
I could be wrong as I didn't watch the whole vid, but he seemed to be taking the throat chop on the collar bone rather than the neck. I always thought the clavicles weren't that sturdy, but then you see kyokushin guys lamping each other in that area with hard punches and they seem to be able to shrug it off.
AFAIK clavicle breaks are usually from impact to the shoulder flexing it rather than actual impact to the bone. Maybe relatively strong one way but not the other?
Yeah, I understood the mechanics of the spear-bending stuff, but I never realised just how strong practicing to "chin & grin" to throat-grabs made the tendons at my throat till I just had a go at whacking it. I would NOT like to be hit there without preparing first though, so I can't see it being useful for anything other than a party trick.
Theres another vid Ive seen, with Genki Sudo delivering the kicks to Juko guy. Pretty much the same result. I wondered if, when they werent ready, and you fired a kick in...would they go down ? lol.
One of my early instructors used to be with that bunch. He said it was a parlor trick that they practice. It takes a few moments to tense all the proper muscles, and you can't be moving around very much. He told me it was pretty impressive as a demonstration, but pretty much useless for anything else.
What are you talking about? [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCirPPBOI6I"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCirPPBOI6I[/ame] Seems pretty useful to me.
