Some excellent Aikido art is also in threads/Googles on tattoos (no, I'm not being facetious as I have some myself). As to brushwork - tried it and I also am rubbish. My artistic daughter once painted me a Kanji 'Ai Ki Do' banner on paper and I guess you've either got it or you ain't as hers was full of free brush strokes and looked 'alive'. It's in store somewhere dusty so I really should dig it out. There's also music, and not just traditional Japanese music either (Elkie Brooks was one of our 1st Dans and sings a mean tune or two about 'circles' etc.) N.B. For those under 40 she was a top pop rocker back in the days when....
