You must know something to know you suck.

Is that the stage they call 'conscious incompetence'?

What you need is a bit of 'fa jing' to let go of all that stuff you must have sucked in! :D

Well, I suppose it's a good thing to know that what you thought you knew you now don't know at all. Knowledge born, oh the sweet suffering. :)

You need the balance of Yin and Yang.

    You need to blow too.

So true. We all do - I'm workin on it....
Ok - this is Scots right? Please explain what that means - coz down south it might mean something rude or even be a drug reference... lol :D

Can you be more specific as to why you "suck"?

Well blow means pretty much the same as suck in terms of ability, yet they are opposite.

    "I suck at this"
    "I blow at this"

Means much the same, but like Yin and Yang, they are opposite.

Balance. Be the Darth Vader to your Jedi Order.

I guess I should feel lucky that at least I am aware of my problems and can work on them. It's just frustrating that's all. My teacher tells me my form is all wrong! He says my upper body moves around too much and I'm putting movement where there shouldn't be any (this might also explain some things I'm doing wrong in push hands also). I guess it could be worse, but now I feel like I'm back to square-one, since I have to change the way I've been doing the form for the last six years and it aint easy! In general, any change can be difficult, especially the ones that have become habits and are ingrained into your body movement.

TJB, 20 years!! Wow!! We got some heavy hitters on this forum as far as experience goes. I'm just a wee lad myself.

There is always a chance the teacher was having a bad day and being really picky on that evening.......The way is through constant practise (sadly)

My teacher always said "Don't put people up on pedestals. Because they are only human, sooner or later they'll let you down."
There is no realistic expectation of standard based on how many years you have done Taiji anyway - it's how many hours you've done it... lol
    ;)

Add to your Taijiquan stimulus! I recommend you to try http://www.attackproof.com/ ! I found is a very good system to make Taijiquan work as an very effective self-defense.
