Long title. I surf the net when bored looking for little bits of Kung Fu gossip. Well, today I've noticed that Lau family Hung Kuen in the UK appears to have had a big split. The group under Master Mark Houghton has long had the UK rep as Sifu Wayne Husbands, but in the past few years a number of other disciples of Master Houghton had taken to teaching under his banner. However and I don't know how long ago, but late last year by my reckoning, all the other disciples have dropped their affilliation to the "Lau Kar Leung Lineage Hung Kuen". There is no reasoning to be found (yet), it's just interesting gossip during lockdown. On a similar note about 18 months ago there was also a big split in the Tiger Crane Kung Fu association under Master Dennis Ngo. Not much detail available either, but about half his affiliated instructors names disappeared from their website. This is nothing more than idle gossip. But hey, I'm bored and it's really cold out.
